Stielas Storhett-Vandrer...

I'm just going to start out by saying that this album is an absolute masterpiece.
Stielas Storhett is the project of one man, Damien T.G. When compared to most one man black metal projects, the musicianship of Stielas Storhett seems that much more remarkable. And the songwriting is superb. "Vander..." really captures the atmosphere of a frost covered Northern Russia. The sound is desolate, misanthropic and ice cold. Catchy guitar riffs are complemented my soaring melodies that sound spacey and cosmic at times. Although the guitar playing and tone stand out on this album, all instruments are played especially well. The vocals are cold and anguished. On the sixth track of this album the listener is treated to the sound of a woman moaning during sex which I have to admit caught me a bit off guard. It's not exactly something one's used to hearing in black metal or really music in general. Not to mention that it doesn't seem to fit the vibe of the rest of the album. Oh, and by the way, there are Burzum and Darkthrone covers to be found here to boot. Pure excellence from beginning to end.
