The Ruins Of Beverast - Rain Upon The Impure

Alexander von Meilenwald...what is there to say? I'm pretty sure this dude must be a genius. Known previously for his work in Nagelfar, he also has a hand in a lot of quality bands, whether playing session drums or playing live for them(Kermania, Graupel, Verdunkeln, etc...). I do have to say The Ruins of Beverast has slowly over the years become my #1 black metal band, each release is meticulously done, whether you want the more doomy sound of 'The Foulest Semen of the Sheltered Elite', or the more experimental 'Unlock the Shrine'.

Rain Upon the Impure, admittedly, was the hardest of the three full lengths for me to get into, but boy is it a rewarding listen. The more listens you give the album, the more of it's subtleties reveal itself to you. 7 massive tracks sprawled across an incredible almost hour and 20 minutes, and damn ladies(lol) and gentlemen is it a journey worth sitting through.

I don't really have too much else to say about this album, except that it's mandatory for any fan of black metal, just to at least hear it once and experience it. I know I'm eagerly awaiting any and all work von Meilenwald may have coming up, it seems everything he touches is gold.

Enjoy!
