Decided to dust off this little gem of my cd collection recently. It's fucked that these Norwegian masters of blackened doom were only around long enough to release this one album. It makes you wonder what could have been.
The Pillorian Age was released in 1995 by Avantgarde music. It's possibly some of the most cryptic, haunting, doomy shit that you'll ever hear. Although none of the musicians who participated on this album are really notable for anything they did outside of this band, ability wise these guys are outstanding musicians. Much of your standard black metal fare here with some Celtic Frost and Candlemass influence, haunting melodies and even guitar leads! Not to mention cryptic vocals, just how I like them. Fans of Aeturnus and Bethlehem may want to check this out.
