Lucifer, we are here

In my recently renewed fascination of occult rock/metal thanks to cool bands like Ghost, Blood Ceremony, Electric Wizard, and The Devils Blood, heres a few albums from bands who started it all. Ill post more in the  future, but heres a little taster.

Abysmal Grief - Abysmal Grief

Heres a pretty cool piece of Italian occult doom, plenty of gothic type keyboards and dracula vocals and having said that i enjoy the hell out of it. Thats really all i have to say.

Urna - Iter ad Lucem

Very recommended band featuring Locus Mortis, Absentia Lunae, and Arcana Coelestia . When im in the mood for funeral doom this band never fails to deliver. Thick guitarwork with dissonant riffing, well done keyboard passages for ambience, low death and black metal vocals and spot on creative drumming. Overall the musicianship is excellent but if youve heard the above mentioned bands you would already expect that and as a whole, i find this to be very creative.

Mefitic - Signing The Servants of God (demo)

Third demo from this Italian Black/Death horde, but first time I personally have ever had the pleasure of hearing them. They are signed to Drakkar, and adding that to how awesome this is, Im pretty sure you will be hearing more from them, and soon. Im also pretty sure they will rival heavyweights like Archgoat and Black Witchery. Just wait and see.

Necrodeath - Into the Macabre

More old school! Necrodeath's 1987 debut album featuring some of the more insane black/death/thrash metal of the period. The band is still going strong today with drummer "Peso" being the only original member of Italy's seminal extreme metal legends. The band took a 10 year hiatus from 1989 to 1999 but have still managed to release nine albums of pounding, face melting mayhem. So if Necrodeaath has somehow flown under your radar over the years, there's no better place to start than right at the beginning with their mind-blowing debut.

Hatred - Wind Of Annihilation

Heres another piece of modern thrash i can definitely condone, Hatred, from Italy. I dont think its anything more then a side project of Baphomets Blood and Blasphemophager members, seeing as how the band has been active for nine years and hasnt released a proper full length yet. This ep is quite short (clocks in at ten minutes and some change) but packs quite a punch that i dont hear in thrash much nowadays. It got my fist pumping, and has a nice Razor cover.

THRASH

Tampax Vortex-Rectal Itch

Hey kids, howzabout some sick porno-grind full of wacky drum machine beats and vocals that sound like someone barfing into a drainage pipe? Yaaaaaaay!!!!!

stanky azz finger

Baphomet's Blood - Satanic Metal Attack

Debut album from this italian side project featuring Blasphemophagher members. But this time around the wasteland warriors are trading in their gauntlets and gas masks for aviators and flying v's. Its a pretty fun speed metal album full of energy and satan worship, whats not to like ya know? Strap on your bulletbelt, grab a beer and crank this fucker up!

Grim Monolith - Mooncrowned

Check out this unsigned band from Italy, album came out in 2008 but sounds like it easily could have been recorded in 92. They play a melodic style black metal with catchy riffs, kind of reminds me of a more melodic, less thrashy Immortal with a nice raw edge. First time i listened i remember saying to myself, this is black metal!
