Second full length from Brazil's mighty Grave Desecrator. It is my shitty fucking opinion that this album is an improvement over their debut, making Grave Desecrator one of the better current Brazilian bands doing their fellow countrymen and forefathers like Sarcofago and Holocausto damn proud.

Attomica - Attomica

God damn i love Brazilian metal from this period, 1987 to be exact and don't even try to fukkin argue that this doesn't kick the shit out of most of your favorite metal albums from that exact year, or just metal albums from that year in general. Attomica played a high octane gritty thrash metal that could crush posers from a mile away and the style of this album preceded many bands from the late 90's playing black or death/thrash. This album was definitely before its time, just like many of their Brazilian counterparts.

Aeshma - The Dark Misanthropic Woods

Aeshma was formed by the dark souls of two veterans of the Brazilian black metal scene in 2002. A year later they put out this excellent demo and never have been heard from again but apparently remain active. The production on this demo is actually quite decent, most things are perfectly audible and the overall atmosphere is pleasing. Ominous keyboards never take the forefront but instead add to aforementioned atmosphere. Vocals are incredibly caustic and furious. If you like raw, evil, atmospheric black metal grab this and go on a hellish journey through the Dark Misanthropic Woods of Aeshma.

Patria - Liturgia Haeresis

Patria are a newer black metal band from Brazil, this being there newest full length from 2011 via the always mighty Drakkar productions. They have been damn persistent since their inception into our grim world of black metal, putting out just about a full length every year. Being from Brazil, they did not choose to go down the savage and barbaric path of many of their forefathers and even many of their "peers", but to go down the path of the early ninetees black metal, the norse path in particular.

Headhunter D.C. - God is Spreading Cancer

One of the most underrated death metal today, Headhunter D.C. Fukking crushing brazilian death metal, with a slight blackish tinge. Did i mention this band features Paulo Lisboa from mystifier? You should have a boner now that i did. Anyways, great vocals that go from gutteral growls, to black metal shrieks, to whispering, and the occasional falsetto even. Shredding, brutal guitar work, and always inventive drumming, never constant unimaginative blasting. If you havent heard this band, you are truly missing out.

Holocausto - Campo de Extermínio

Ah nothing like hearing Brazilians writing nazi themed metal. I dont know if they were serious about it, or just simply used it as shock value, or maybe i know nothing about Brazil. Either way, opening track is a Hitler speach giving intro and after that...pure necro fucking chaos. Thats all there really is to say. Insane death thrash with an old school black metal vibe, sure ive heard better records from the time period, and ive also heard far worse. But the vibe on this album alone, is worth listening for.

Krow - Before the Ashes

Ok first off, before i talk about new kids on the block Krow, from Brazil, i will state the ONLY problem i had with the release was the cover art and logo. For this type of music it looks too modern something like a metalcore band would use, and the logo is kind of weak. Considering the kind of ferocious death metal you will find therein. I look at cover art and logos from an old school standpoint where we bought metal albums based sometimes on those two details. On to the music, Krow definitely pay some excellent homeage to countrymen Krisiun ala savage ravaging death metal played with considerable skill, toss some slayer in there for some similar riffs and voila. Dont let this one slip past you, it deserves a little attention for not approaching death metal the way most bands are doing it these days.

Sepultura - Bestial Devastation

Listened to this the other day at home and just had to post this. Released in 91 but recorded in 85, how cool was this for 85?! Nothing against the Sepultura of now, they are way better then metallica! But this is when they still wanted to take over the world, they were fucking hungry, and i love their raw primitive 80s output. It can easily hang with Sarcofago, Pentagram, and Death Yell.
