Reclusa - The Anticonscience
Recently i had my first experience with Reclusa, and while almost everything heard in this mindfuck of an album is not my thing, i quite enjoyed it. Hot from the Crucial Blast label, you should know that you are getting something most likely batshit crazy (Gnaw their Tongues, T.O.M.B. etc) and while not quite as creepy as the aforementioned projects, it is definitely as complex. Reclusa blends death and black doom metal with industrial/ambient and noise, coming across as the murderous cousin of Godflesh.

The Austrasian Goat - The Austrasian Goat
I almost hate describing or reviewing stuff like this. Music that is so simple, yet so deep, has always been intriguing yet baffling to me. What i can tell you is that The Austrasian Goat is a solo project from France, with mastermind Julien Louvet at the creative helm. Here he creates crushing, atmospheric black metal/funeral doom hybrid of sorts not too much unlike Nortt. By now i have thrown out plenty of comparisons and references for you to know you either are, or are not interested so i will quit wasting your time.

Traumatic Voyage - Traumatic...
Germanys Traumatic Voyage are a band that has remained very obscure since 1992, hell they released an album last year even! Since you probably have never even heard of, i have the debut right here for you but head my warning, its not an easy listen. I would call it black/death/doom at its core, but heavily layered with progressive and avant-garde moments, akward time signatures all over the place, fucked up vocals of every sort, there isnt anything at all traditional about this album so if you like the experimental side of metal you will find a lot to take in here.

Creeping - Order of Snakes
I havent heard a whole lot of ranting about New Zealands Creeping, and after 2 quality full lengths and a split with Glorior Belli, i kinda wonder why. Of course the answer is the metal scene is flooded these days, with both amazing albums, terrible, and everything in between. To me, Creeping rise above the mediocre, with their formula of black metal and doom. If you like the last few Glorior Belli albums and or doom, this is very much for you.

Black Priest Of Satan - We, as Shadows of Satan
You know your getting a good black metal album when not only the band name, but the album title also has the word satan in it. I discovered this band a few months ago and was drawn in by the awesomely generic band name, so already being sold i was somewhat surprised by the sound of the album. While i expected generic black metal, and it is, i love the fuck out of this. This is doomy black metal dripping with tasty cheesy hammer horror style evil. Most of the songs are brooding and plod along with ritualistic drumming, monotonous riffing, and satanic priest style vocals preaching the impending doom of satan.
satan.

Warhammer - Curse of the Absolute Eclipse
Unlike Usurper, Warhammer wanted to sound EXACTLY like Hellhammer, and has even been known to scrap material while writing if it doesnt sound close enough. Thats absolutely ok with me.

Atriarch - Forever the End
Well, heres some doom that doesnt bore me. Not that it doest exist, it just isnt very often. I like doom, just a small percentage. I have listened to this once, so i dont have a ton to say about it yet, but why would you care anyways? Ill say it has some cool droney, ritualistic parts, and is crushing at times like all good doom should be, for the rest, youre on your own.

Usurper - Threshold of the Usurper
If you havent listened to Usurper by now...i hereby by the power of the metal gods revoke your god damn right to listen to metal. This band will crush every motherfucking poser within a thousand mile radius. Really, go ahead and try, watch the bodies fall. Their lethal brand of Celtic Frost meets early Cathedral esque metal is better then anything you listen to anyways, so, win win.

Dragged Into Sunlight - Hatred for Mankind
Dragged Into Sunlight entered the metal world with a fucking boom in 2009 seemingly coming out of nowhere, spewing forth a self titled EP, and then full length both in the same year. They have since been signed to Prosthetic, which im sure some will scowl at, but people raised on the internet are far to quick to judge an album before its even written, much less released. Back to the task at hand, these guys play a type of black/death/doom, and it is unrelenting in its brutality and viciousness. There are also well placed samples (clips of Charles Manson talking and such), adding to the cover art, complimenting the album perfectly. This is a band to look out for in the future, there is already talk of them collaberating with Gnaw Their Tongues, which will no doubt be grotesquely haunting.

An Autumn For Crippled Children - Lost
If you are like me you may think of avoiding this album because you dont particularly care for the name. But if youre even more like me you will get the fuck over it because thats just silly man! This is a great album. Very atmospheric, depressive, reminds me at times of like a lifelover/katatonia hybrid, but i only use comparisons to make up for my lack of creativity so get over it and listen already, i dont have to fuckin impress you.

Phazm - Hate at First Seed
Now ive decided to mix it up a bit on this one, not your typical take on the apocalypse. Debut album by french band Phazm (currently 3 albums via Osmose Records). They play a really cool mixture of black, death, and doom metal in a way that really works and seems to flow seemlessy. Im a fan of the first 2 albums in which i own, and havent heard the 2008 full length. Now where this album differs from others, there are no zombies or nuclear metldowns, this time around its the trees wreaking the havok. After so many years of mankind ruining and exploiting this planet they somehow take form and set upon killing off the humans, thus reclaiming what is rightfully theirs. It sounds a bit hippy, other then the fact that hippies never came up with anything cool, so ill dismiss that notion.

Stoner Witch - Unholy Ceremonies From a Stoned Witch
Ok, just for the record...i hate the band name. But when i saw that artwork, i knew i had to hear this. This is the newest demo from this San Antonio band, their 4th i believe, and no full lengths so far. Stoner Witch play metal that is firmly rooted in doom and sludge (definite Melvins influence), but mix it up with some dirty black and death metal as well, and though this isnt something i would normally listen to i gotta say it works out really well. To sum it up its kinda like a mix of Melvins and Hellhammer.

Skitliv - Skandinavisk Misantropi
A while back i posted this album on a blog i used to contribute too. I havent listened to this album since, but when i was going through some cds i had boxed away i found this and was reminded. Im just going to cut and past what i originally wrote, so if you dont like it fuck you!
I purchased this on a whim recently only knowing of the mayhem, shining, and Bethlehem members, as it is comprised of ex Mayhem vocalist Maniac, and Kvarforth from Shining (and 2 other guys im not familiar with) About the band, what can i say, ive heard some good, some bad, my conclusion, its a pretty ambitious effort and although i need more listens to fully digest something like this, i like it. Not a style i listen to a lot, it has maniacs snarling vocals, with everything going at a doom pace, and sounding pretty evil when it goes into atmospheric mode. Ill also add it has a shit ton of guests including gaahl and attila csihar, just in case my description does nothing for you.
